We’re about to be spending $28k a year on daycare (fml) that has to be paid through autopay on the Brightwheel app – they charge a 2.95% fee to use a card – what are people doing in situations like this to get cash back or points on this huge expense? My 2% cash back cards obviously wouldn’t offset the fee.

One note- Brightwheel doesn’t charge a fee with checking/savings bank account type payments so I’m wondering if there’s something that could be done there if there’s any cards similar to BILT 1.0 that had ACH feature that would work on daycare?

We’re already maxing out the Dependent Care FSA of $7,500 a year – lmk if anyone has any other hacks to lessen this blow lol

Not really, the 2.95% fee kills anything other than sign up bonus spend churning. Unless you’re able to pay with a debit card for no fees and leverage a Discover card your SOL on capturing any rewards for daycare (welcome to parenthood).

    2. There’s only really 1 path to come out ahead. Churning SUBs. There’s no service like BILT for non housing type expenses.

We have ~50k a year in daycare spend, just under 1k per week. We are able to churn about 1 card every month to 2 months depending on the card spend.

Look at churning for more info but I got enough points to fly free for 2-3 years through various ecosystems, enough UR for some awesome Hyatt redemptions and a bunch of cash back/statement credits to reduce the cost of daycare. Recent one was $750 back on 6k spend for blue biz cash. Another is $500 back on 5k with WF signify.

This is going to be so easy for you two to get a ton of extra value out of it if you choose 🙂
