I recently came across an article where, and I quote-
“The 2025 Honolulu Marathon generated nearly $524 million for Hawaii’s economy, including more than $32 million in state and local tax revenue, according to a new report.”
The comments are filled with people saying that that is an exaggerated number.
My question is two sided.
Are people not aware that economic injection is not just direct purchases but everything upstream and downstream from the purchase (wages, supplies, B2B purchases, etc.)? Or am I incorrect in assuming that tourism generation includes all of that?
What does tourism economic generation include?
