I’ll say it because no one else will. Crypto is fucking garbage.

Mods, I'll take the downvotes if the sentiment doesn't agree with me (expecting it wont), nonetheless, hoping you'll let this soft rant be posted and see where the discourse goes.

Listen guys. I'd like to think I did everything "right." I have a diversified portfolio, researched projects with actual use-cases. Not just meme coins, real protocols that were supposedly solving "real" problems. Was up ~30k average, 45k at the peak earlier this year and feeling like a genius. Now I'm down almost 60%.

Explain to me what kind of legitimate asset class, financial instrument, market, whatever, bleeds 9-15% DAILY for a week straight and deserves to be taken seriously? Everyone is saying "the whole market is down bro, you paperhands?!?!" Yeah ok. I'm only down 12% during this same period in my stock portfolio which I invest in pretty equally to my crypto… but I'm still up several hundred %s off some semi-researched/semi-lucky stocks and the overall diversity.

Meanwhile crypto dumps 60% over the last few months and we all just shrug and say "zoom out bro." I'm not selling, I get it, the cycle repeats, I'll start buying heavily as we approach the bottom and in a sick way I'm glad we have this downturn to such an extreme because I WANTED to buy more earlier this year.

I understand the game. But let's stop pretending this is anything other than what it is. I'm willing to admit at this point, and you should too that this asset, crypto, is a fucking scam and a garbage product that we're all participating in purely as a parallel and more easily manipulated money-maker to the stock market. No one here actually cares about blockchain technology or decentralization or whatever use-case/company is being shilled this cycle. We're all just here trying to extract money from each other.

Sorry, endrant. I want to believe in the technology, but damn is it demoralizing when I compare portfolios. Being honest about what actual impact crypto has had on the real world, it's nonexistent.
