I currently have cards earning:

Wells Fargo Go Far Rewards, Citi Thank You Points, Chase UR, Amex MR, & BILT

I currently use whatever card nets me the most points to ensure I am getting the best redemption.

The reason I don't see a problem with this is that a lot of these have the same transfer partners, and you call pool points from your various programs.

For example. I just booked a DFW to JNB Business Class Flight on Qantas for 115,000 Asia Miles. It's 32 glorious hours in the A380. I did not have this much in just one account, so I had to transfer from Citi, Amex, & BILT to have enough to buy this flight. This route retails for $18,000, so I think it was a solid deal.

Sticking to one currency may be easier, but with the transfer bonuses and different earning rates, you can reach your goals much faster by earning the most in different currencies.

A Valid Reason Why Earning in So Many Different Points Currencies Is Beneficial

that’s actually pretty smart, most people get caught up in the “simplicity” argument but you’re right that the overlapping transfer partners make it way more flexible

sounds like you got incredible value on that flight – $18k retail for 115k points is insane. the a380 business to johannesburg is supposed to be amazing too

    3. There are even more reasons to do that. You get more opportunities for welcome bonuses, you get better optimization of your spending, and you have more options for transfer partners. You also have backups in case one bank has to freeze your accounts. Before phone apps, this would have been too much to manage, but now it’s easy.

    4. Disposable income, spend events, and SUBs are not insignificant portions of this conversation.
