Saw the new WHOOP offer drop for Sapphire cardholders today and went down the rabbit hole. Figured I'd share what I found since there are some gotchas that aren't obvious.

Reserve gets $359 back on the WHOOP Life annual plan, so basically a free year.

Preferred gets $100 back on any annual plan (cheapest is $149/yr, so you're looking at $49 out of pocket minimum).

The big one: you have to activate the offer in Chase Offers before you purchase. No activation, no credit. Has to be directly on whoop.com, no third-party checkout or BNPL, US only.

One thing I noticed in the fine print… it says "spend $359 or more, including taxes and after discounts." So if you stack a promo code and your total drops below $359, the credit might not go through. Saw someone on Reddit already run into this. Don't get clever at checkout.

If you're already a WHOOP member you can still use it at renewal or gift someone an annual plan. If you're on a Peak trial, you can upgrade to Life in the app (More → My Account → Membership & Billing → Upgrade). Apparently your remaining Peak months convert to Life at a 3:2 ratio and the new 12 months add on after that.

Worth noting the band comes free with any membership but it's basically a paperweight without an active subscription. This is a one-time benefit so set a reminder to cancel before renewal if you're just trying it out.

    Expires May 12, 2026.

Anyone already pull the trigger on this?

    1. I have an Apple Watch already. I’m not spending money on stuff that I don’t need, even if it’s nearly free (or acquiring things I won’t use).

    2. Don’t get caught up with Whoop. It’s not a great product and they’re not a great company.

Thanks for the heads up. A lot of people would miss the activation bit. But I’ll pass anyway. I’m not a pro golfer, and I don’t like the idea of these companies having my biometrics.

I was pretty set on getting a garmin watch but thought whoop was cool looking and did 90% of what I wanted in my shopping. So for me, it was crazy good timing. I ordered 15 minutes or so after first seeing the offer this morning.

    5. Warning that cancelling a Whoop subscription is EXTREMELY difficult. They will make you go through countless channels. It was only after I threatened to take it up with my credit card company that they stopped charging me.

    6. I have a garmin watch, and thought for $6 (after the credit) why not give it a chance, I’ve always been pretty interested! Pulled trigger earlier today, I’m excited about the partnership!
