USAA sent me an email this afternoon advising that there is a new benefit for their credit cards. you get $200 of your insurance deductible (it says with any company, I happen to have USAA) if you use your card 8 times in the month prior. I know insurance isnt very sexy, but this is a pretty good benefit and im not sure if ive seen it anywhere else. USAA cards aren't the greatest, but if you really aren't too deep into credit cards this can be really useful if you need to utilize the benefit.
ive been considering adding the eagle navigator since its like a C1 venture card but you csn deposit the 2% back in your account and get 3% on gas and groceries (and 5% back on military bases) and tsa precheck….the $95 af csn also be wiped out cuz you get 10k points a year if you use their portal once a year for a rental car or hotel
again, this isnt amazing stuff but I wanted to share
Interesting new benefit for USAA credit card

Probably a pretty decent marketing idea. Advertise a $200 benefit but only have to pay out if someone actually has to make a claim on their insurance. I’ve considered the Cashback Rewards Plus since I work on a military base and that has made coding hard to deal with, but I’ve heard DPs that the card’s “military base purchases” category isn’t that much more reliable.
I wish they had a card that’d give a high multiplier on their own insurance premiums
Do you have any public links advertising this benefit for eagle navigator? I only see mentions of the coverage for the visa preferred cash rewards card: https://static.usaa.com/content/dam/digital/documents/pdf/bank/bk-automobile-insurance-deductible-reimbursement-benefit-guide.pdf
That would require using a 1.5% cashback card 8x a month for a benefit that only applies if you file a loss claim.
