My 2012 Toyota Corolla runs like a champ (natch) and only has 90k miles on it. But the clear coat has failed, the paint is chipping, and rust is about to set in. It looks like shit and is frankly embarrassing.
I feel like I need to protect the raw metal now showing where it's chipped. It's only gonna get worse. But damn, car painting is expensive AF. Any suggestions?
Okay frugalistas I have a car question

If you can sand it, tape it and get it to maco, it will look great for a commuter and cost half the price. $300 but you need to do all the prep work.
Totally possible to paint a car yourself. There’s a learning curve but you can buy paint, paint sprayer, and make a makeshift spray booth and do it yourself. Will still cost a good few bucks but way cheaper than hiring someone.
Alternatively, just leave it as-is. I know you said it looks bad and you think it’s embarrassing but truthfully no one really cares or judges you for it. It’s a 14 year old car, it’s expected to not look new. Unless you have a job where the appearance of your car impacts your income then whoooo cares.
In OPs post i read ‘rust about to set in’. Can that be eliminated with a paint job?
