I set out today with a mission. I wanted to get a new plant friend for as little as possible. Step one was a planter. The very first thrift store I went to had a 4.5" tall glass jar with tiny beach rocks in it for $1.65 after tax. Perfect. I nabbed it, then headed to the forest entrance down the road to scavenge a wee little plant. I found on that I liked and that will do well in my house, gentle nabbed it, and moved to the next part: potting. My friend told me I could use her potting soil she has outside her apartment, so I went there and grabbed a handful, then also scooped some ground moss off of her front yard (with permission) to use on top of the soil
The little guy looks stunning next to my other plant that I recently got for $24.50 or so. I love the natural plants in the area, so I figured why buy plants at all? Jars are cheap, and drainage rocks at the bottom work fine. Plus I live ten minutes from the beach, so there isn't any shortage
New houseplant: $1.65.
New cheap hobby = found
Next task: succulent
Scavenged a house plant for $1.65 and discovered a new frugal hobby

That’s a brilliant idea! I’ve been buying plants from nursery for way too much money when forest is literally everywhere
