The other day my sister came to visit. She is gluten free and dairy free so I ws boring and made her mashed potatoes and chicken. I was horrified by the cost of a single lb of russet potatoes. What the heck. My mother would be ashamed if I didnt get the 10 lbs. 🤣 Maybe no one cares but me but I couldnt help but wonder how much each potato cost…I had the day off. Free will and food scale. This is my stoner journey. Less than half the cost. On average 57 grams bigger. I like the variety in sizes too for different moods and sides. I could have been cheaper with the toppings but thats ok. It was close to home and easy. Didn't add the cost of the 12 zip lock bags but it was a costco purchase so pretty cheap. Feel free to share your homemade versus store stories! Cheers

I’m not following. But a 10lb bag of russets from costco is around $$8-$10. I couldn’t bring myself to buy 4 potatoes if I could get an entire bag. Twice baked potatoes are just as much work to make 1 as 10. Plus they freeze fantastic.
Haha I can see you’re in BC. I wonder if this is my local store. I always wonder about the price of bulk vs single potatoes! And the onions, I can get 25lbs for $13 or it’s $2-$3/lb for single onions. WTF??
This made my nerdy heart sing 🤓 💕
Oh sorry maybe I didn’t word it well. I bought the 10lb bag of course. I simple couldnt pay the $2.89/lb. I had to make twice baked potatoes because I alone can not eat that many before they go bad. This prompted me to do the math. I made 12 and calculated everything except the bags they were frozen in.
