So how do the Iranian people actually use the Rials. Do they basically just use MegaRials and GigaRials in day-to-day? Because surely it must get annoying a.f. to always have to count in multiples of millions for buying bread or somesuch

The USD exchange rate doesn’t really matter at all. Iran sells oil and uses foreign currency to buy whatever they do need to import, but they’re not dependent on imports. Iranian currency is just used in Iran. It’s not like they’re going through hyperinflation or something.
