This keeps happening so I am thinking I may cancel these subscriptions as I am not finding them to be worth subscribing. The price always goes up between the time I get the reminder email about what will be coming that month and by the delivery date. What has been your experience with Amazon and subscriptions when you are trying to be as frugal as possible? Ok so I have nothing more to add for the word count.
If the cost of an amazon subscription goes up after the monthly delivery email do they change you the higher price or the one in the email?

Stop supporting Bezos.
I buy stuff when I need it, not when Amazon thinks I do.
They charge you the higher price. I actually just got an email yesterday that the price of one of my subscription items is going up. Of course the subscription price does not go down if the item price drops, which I discovered 2 months ago for one of my items – the monthly price dropped $8 so I canceled and resubscribed. Either way it’s really not something you can set-and-forget if you’re conscious about wanting the lowest price.
Support local business. Amazon gives bad experience and isnt even cheap.
I only was using the subscribe and save for a few items that we go through at pretty regular intervals, so am not an expert by any means. I’m pretty sure that they charge you the price on the the day before it ships. Two months in a row, I noticed prices spiking on my items (dog food and treats, dishwater detergent, diapers) up 10-30% immediately as they charged things. The dogfood was the worst, as the price of the 28lb bag that I was buying jumped up >15% higher then buying the 40 lb bag without the discount. The dog treats were the next worse as the price per ounce on the 1.5 lb bags ended up being more expensive than the smaller 12 oz bags by about 20%. There is definitely some pricing shenanigans going on.
I was able to cancel most of them and reorder the day after for a cheaper price than the subscribe and save discount with the price in that moment would have given me. For next month and on, I have canceled all of the Amazon S&S and am planning to not renew my Prime when the current plan lapses.
1.Subscribe and Save
2.Receive shipment
3.Cancel S&S
You’ll always get a notice that the price is increasing. You have the option to cancel or substitute, but you must do so before the deadline or you’ll be charged the higher price.
