Best cellphone carrier for two people? Not heavy usage. But also no pay for minutes time of carriers. We use consumer wireless now but honestly it’s too expensive.
I’m interested in mint mobile but I don’t know anyone who uses that service. Boost I have only heard negative reviews about. I need to be able to make calls due to medical needs but not for work.
All recommendations are welcome!

Visible is great
US Mobile is great and you can pick between Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile networks. $15/month per person
Mint is 15/month. Hard to beat price wise. Been with them for years. No issues but it’s t mobile towers so check coverage in your area

Mint has been good for me over the years but will keep my eye open for any better deals when my promo runs out but I got $15 for unlimited for two years just need to pay ever 3 month in advance
I’ve been using Mint for over a year and I like it. I pay $240/year for 15gb/mo and unlimited talk and text. You can probably check your current monthly data usage with your current cell provider to see what amount of data you need. They have decently priced temporary international plans that I’ve used on vacation too. They use T-Mobile towers. I’ve never had an issue with coverage but you could look up their coverage map to make sure it’s solid where you live.
I use tello and pay $8/month for 1gb of data, 500 minutes talk, unlimited text. It’s more than enough for me bc I rarely talk on the phone and am typically connected to WiFi.
There’s a bunch of them depending on what you need and what towers work where you live.
US Mobile (Warp is Verizon, Dark Star is AT&T, and Lightspeed is T-Mobile)
Tello (T-Mobile)
Mint Mobile (T-Mobile)
Visible (Verizon)
MobileX (Verizon)
There are plenty more but the ones listed above have pricing that is very very competitive.
The good thing about all these companies is that they are running off a major carrier’s network so as long as that network works where you are they will work. If you have WiFi at home many also provide WiFi calling just as a nice back up.
I use Ting. Around US$18/month-cellular only, no data allowance. Can choose Verizon or T-Mobile (I chose T-Mobile); my son also uses Ting (chose Verizon, but recently has had some connectivity issues).
Check Verizon and T-Mobile coverage. And, of course, YMMV as with any mobile carrier.
Tello is good. They have good interface that helps you decide if the coverage is good in your area and if your phone will work or not. You can build your own plans. Currently have a 2G plan for $11 total with tax.
I love Mint, ive used them for about 3 years now but theyre not so great if you plan on being outside the US
Tello.
How few minutes do you wanna go? My youngest has a $7/month tello plan that’s 500 minutes, a gig, and unlimited text. I do the bulk buy Mint for the year.
USmobile is top ranking right no in my opinion. Mint is great, I’ve had them for years but USMobile allows you to switch carriers. Which is good if you find one doesn’t give you service where you need it to.

Tello is very cheap. I have it for my kids. I was going to get it for me but Mint beat the price when I called to port my number out.
Any with $15/month

I’ve used boost (formerly virgin mobile) for 15+ years. I always buy my phone outright but I pay $37/mo for unlimited everything and phone insurance. No complaints.
Check our r/NoContract for options.
Mint mobile is great. You save money by paying for the whole year. It’s great to not even think about it. I haven’t noticed any difference between now and when we had ATT or Verizon (except for how much we’re saving). No matter what we did our bill would always creep back up to $200 a month for two phones, paid off, unlimited plan. Around $400 for an entire year for both our phones.

Some of it will depend on where you live.
I used Tello for years and the cost and data customization were great. Then I moved and the reception was terrible in my new place.
Tried Mint and had similar reception issues, even though I really liked the price.
Currently on US Mobile and it’s been solid.
I have boost unlimited for 25 a month. Personally i dont have an issue with them. Always check a coverage map first.
Mint Mobile.
I’ve been with Mint for a couple of years now. Great customer service, great service coverage. No issues at all.
how much data does each person need? Tello lets you customize plans and if you use all your data then you still at least have 2g speeds.
US Mobile has been great. $25/line for 70gb of data. That rate is not a promotional rate.
Check if the deal is still available first but here’s what you can try:
Start an LLC where you flip stuff on eBay from time to time. Sort out the LLC legalese and renewal stuff. Anyway just some BS company. The other thing you can do is start a business using your own SSN as a sole proprietor. Anyway, you take that to T-Mobile and sign up for their $100 for 10 lines and get all your homies to switch. $10/line + taxes. You can mix and match each line with added benefits as well.
Me and my dad both use tello and pay 7 dollars a month for what I think was 2 GB and 100 mins. You can customize the plan
As someone who worked in the cell phone department of Best Buy, Mint mobile was the cheapest option I ever found. You do have to pre-pay, but it comes out to like $15 a month. As long as you aren’t a heavy internet user and just need to make calls and text, Mint uses the T-mobile towers, so should be pretty reliable. Check the coverage maps, as long as you live in a decent coverage area, it should be fine.
If you have Xfinity home internet, you can get Xfinity mobile cheap. We have 4 lines sharing 3gb data for $30/mo total. It uses Verizon network too.
I use US Mobile and love it. We pay annually and are on their unlimited starter plan, which comes out to $540 a year for the two of us, $22.50 a month per line. We have unlimited data, 20GB hotspot, and they support international traveling. You can choose whose towers you want – AT&T (DarkStar), T-Mobile (LightSpeed), or Verizon (Warp) depending on what works best in your area.
They run promos a lot for annual plans as well, to get it cheaper for your first year.
If you’re in the United States, I can recommend US Mobile. They’re one of those sub-carriers that uses Verizon towers.
I had full service with data for TEN BUCKS a month. It was amazing…
…until I crossed the border into Canada on vacation. I swear, within the first mile, I lost ALL service. They were NOT KIDDING with their name.
