Using FB Marketplace to find apartment

Currently living in northern Virginia. My landlord is selling the place I'm currently living in so I have to look for an alternative hopefully in the same area. I'm curious what luck people have had using FB marketplace searching for rentals and would appreciate any advice! I guess I mainly want to know how to spot deals that are "too good to be true." Previous places I've found have all been through word of mouth, so this is the first time I'm properly apartment hunting. I'm fine living with roommates.
