I want to settle this once and for all. I see people on here with their little spatulas for getting the last little bits out of containers. I am a big fan of adding a little water to shampoo or soap to get the last bit out. Is it worth it to get little spatulas for mayo etc? Do the squeeze devices go toothpaste really work? which is the best method for getting the most of each item? This has been weighing heavily. Please help!
Little spatulas VS water in the bottle?

Water is fine for something you’d add water to anyway, like shampoo, but you wouldn’t want to add liquid to mayo. In that case you’d want some sort of long-handled spoon, knife, or spatula to get the stuff from the bottom of the jar.
I wouldn’t buy something specific for this purpose unless you truly have nothing that would reach.
I just take a credit card and push the toothpaste from the bottom out against the counter. No need for a device!
We have the squeeze thing for toothpaste – the kind that’s just a cheap plastic oval with a slit cut in it, like you can get at walmart. I originally got one free off buy nothing, then accidentally threw it out with an empty tube of toothpaste, and missed it enough that I went and bought another.
And since they came as a four pack, they’ve ended up on other things, like a tube of sunscreen, one of moisturizer.
Partly it saves some toothpaste, but even more it saves the annoyance of trying to get some out for the week or two before you just give up.
One thing I’m not gonna do is cut containers open and spread microplastics into stuff I’m about to put in my mouth or slather on my skin. I don’t get why people think that’s a great lifehack.
Both work for different things. Eg. If i want the last of the peanut butter for my toast, then a Scraper works best. If I’m making a peanut sauce/dressing, then adding the liquid to the jar works just fine. Watered down shampoo, no problem. Watered down mayo, yuck. For toothpaste using the edge of the counter or back of a comb works just fine. No need to buy specific tools. I already have a small, long handled silicon spatula for jars, cooking, etc.
