    1. This might actually be great news for Anthropic. Perception as resisting big govt, and being more protective of user data, might go down well with companies and consumers.

As long as they retain their technical edge vs others.

Atleast Anthropic has a moral compass in this day and age.

Anthropic’s demands were very basic – 1. Don’t use our AI for AI automated decision of killing people (manual intervention needed) and 2. Don’t use our AI for mass surveillance.

Wish the other companies had balls.

LLM-controlled weapons would probably be more dangerous to the side using them than their adverseries.

“You’re absolutely right! That was our own commander”.

Firms doing business with the military will be pissed when they find out they have to switch to inferior models when they just got their entire workflow set up with Claude lmfao.

      From article, quote from [Hegseth’s x post](https://x.com/SecWar/status/2027507717469049070):
      > Effective immediately, no contractor, supplier, or partner that does business with the United States military may conduct any commercial activity with Anthropic

Hegseth’s post comes after [Trump admin blacklists Anthropic as AI firm refuses Pentagon demands](https://www.cnbc.com/2026/02/27/trump-anthropic-ai-pentagon.html)

      > President Donald Trump said Friday that he was ordering every U.S. government agency to “immediately cease” using technology from the artificial intelligence company Anthropic.

OpenAI seems to hold similar values.

[Sam Altman says OpenAI shares Anthropic’s red lines in Pentagon fight](https://www.axios.com/2026/02/27/altman-openai-anthropic-pentagon)

      > OpenAI CEO Sam Altman wrote in a memo to staff that he will draw the same red lines that sparked a high-stakes fight between rival Anthropic and the Pentagon: no AI for mass surveillance or autonomous lethal weapons.

What precedent does this set for AI companies?

on scamath’s podcast, lutnick described a cordial relationship between private industry and the government. that was a lie.

    6. Just downloaded Claude for the first time to support Anthropic, fuck this circus of an administration.

I read Trump’s post about this. He is an utter moron.

      Anthropic:
At this dev stage allowing AI autonomy with weapons systems would be catastrophically dangerous.

      Trump: fucking gay

    8. Always new one of these companies would eventually get attacked for refusing to bend the knee. They may have a legal response to make here, considering its obvious retaliation.

    9. FiscalCliffClavin on

In a true America, this would be seen as racketeering, which is a crime and it would be addressed legally.

    10. Ironically, they’ll probably end up using Deepseek variants instead, and therefore introducing a supply chain risk 😂

      very bullish

the only AI company the government actually seems to want. All the other suckups are already up don’s crack with their b-tier LLM. Grok, gippity and llama… the DOW can get as much as they want of any of those but they clearly aren’t good enough if the government is that desperate to get Claude

It’s also good press for their superior ethics, can’t hurt!

I cannot wait to buy some some anthropic

    12. EmotionalLecture9318 on

These people are the worst to be in gov’t. Literally, a dead corpse would be more competent.

    13. Delicious-Finger-593 on

Anthropic just won the lottery. Their demands were insanely basic and the gov’ment shit their piss over them. They just convinced half the contry to purchase a subscription at minimum.

    14. sugar_addict002 on

They should take it to court so it can decide if this is made up retaliation or real security risk.

    15. Honestly Trump is not very popular right now and neither is AI. An AI company standing up to the President might swing public opinion and encourage people to use Anthropic as a way to show defiance. It maybe a temporary bump in users and Claude seems to be far and away the best coding platform and it depends on how other AI platforms act but we know where xAI stands, unfortunately. I think eventually with almost all things Trump related this will be resolved with a “gift”.

    16. Everyone who uses chatgpt needs to switch to claude, ASAP.

I did a month ago. Not only am I not giving my money to fascist pieces of crap, but claude IS WAY better… this is coming from someone who used the pro version of CuntGpt for over a year.
