I am replacing my phone (broken screen) and want to get the same (old out of date) model and I was curious what you guys thought of new vs refurbished on 7 year old phones?

I can find the new ones for around the same price as the refurbished. My initial thought was new duh. But. After I thought about it I wondered if some of these would be returns or even if they are not they have been sitting in box for 7 years. I dunno if they still have manufacturer warranty (seller does offer a year) and the refurb would at least be looked at by a tech to get it in shape for resale?

Any thoughts or experiences with similar?

Old out of date phones new or refurbished?

I used to buy refurbished or discount phones and it was never worth it for me because they limit security upgrades to 2 years. Some people don’t need security upgrades, but I do banking on my phone and my job requires me to have an app for security reasons. I was basically buying a shitty half-price phone every two years instead of buying a good, full price phone every four years.

If you don’t need security upgrades, it might work well for you.
