I am having to recertify for my IDR plan for the very first time since being in repayment.
Recertification date is 6/1/26 but I already got the message on MOHELA about submitting. It says the deadline is 4/27/26 (I’m confused about these two dates).
I was planning to recertify after I file my taxes, but I would really like to do it asap. My question is: I made less in 2024 than I did in 2025, so it would help somewhat to use my 2024. If I haven’t filed by the time I submit but do file taxes for 2025 by 4/27 which falls after tax day, is that still okay? I’ don’t want to do anything that will get my IDR denied.

You can always use your most recently filed tax return for income documentation at the time you fill out the application. So you can use 2024 if you haven’t filed for 2025 yet when you are doing the recert application.
The earlier date is given by your servicer to make sure you submit your application and required documentation before your current plan ends and gives them time to process.
Using 2024 is fine so long as 2025 isn’t submitted. That’s what I did. It is to your advantage to do so. Fill it out ASAP
