Missed a 1% Gain and My Life Is Effectively Over

Today I missed a 1% move in SPY.

One. Percent.

Do you understand what that means? That was generational wealth. That was early retirement. That was my future beach house in Pacifica. Gone.

Instead of being up +0.3%, I am down -0.7%. That is a full 1% swing. On an index. An INDEX. The most boring financial instrument ever created.

I sold because there is a literal war. Seemed reasonable.

SPY responded by calmly drifting upward like nothing on Earth matters.

That 1% would’ve changed everything.

I already mentally spent it.

I can’t even look at the chart. Every tiny green candle is a reminder of the empire that could have been.

People will say, “It’s just 1%.”

That’s loser talk.

1% compounded over 400 years is basically infinity. I fumbled immortality.

Anyway, I will now revenge trade tomorrow to recover my dynasty. If SPY moves another 0.4% without me I may have to reconsider my entire existence as a market participant.
