This is probably not a discovery to anyone but me, but I thought I'd share anyways.

Dry oats (bought in bulk) soaked overnight for 12 hours + raisins (bought in bulk) + a little spritz of Stevia concentrated sweetener results in a damn good, damn cheap and damn filling breakfast.

(I use Stevia because it doesn't have the insulin spikes of sugar, just make sure you choose one without glucose. I add actual fruit when it's on sale.)

I think I reinvented cereal (but healthy)

They’re called overnight oats. Lots of great recipes out there when you’re ready for more.

    2. You should try adding half a cup of unsweetened apple sauce and a pinch of cinnamon, that’s a low cost way that I enjoy making my overnight oats and making them sweet without adding any sugar.

    3. Overnight oats are really good! I have to get gluten free, you reminded me to order some!

In a pinch, you can do quick oats in cold milk of your choice. Soak for like 10 minutes. Mix in a spoon of apple sauce any kind and you won’t even need sugar or sweetener . Cut up some grapes, mix in some crushed nuts, blueberries, so good

I’m glad you found a breakfast you’re happy with, but oats, while low on the glycemic index, are going to spike the hell out of you because of the carb content. If you’re concerned about that, then this isn’t the best option.

I like a big scoop of peanut butter and a small dash of cinnamon. A tiny punch of salt also really helps.

    7. I would love to do oatmeal or overnight oat. It would save a lot of time. But I just can’t eat it without wanting to puke. It’s a mix of texture and taste. Even oat milk does not work (and it is so easy to do!). I can do crumble tho. Go figure!

For the same reasons, I can’t eat chia seeds.

This is the poverty meal of my youth. I can’t. But much respect that this works for you!!

Also – kind of funny how so many of our poor meals were actually very good for us.

If you get fancy with it (slivered nuts, granola, chia seeds, other dried fruit) and soak in milk that’s muslei.

And yes, you re-invented overnight oats.

Cereal was an instant gruel meant to replace regular grain-breakfasts and those sinful, sinful fats in bacon, sausage and eggs.causing temptations, like the tarts they are. Look up Kellogg’s philosophy, it’s a wild ride.

    11. So museli with artificial sweetener (the raisins should be sweet on their own) and no apple

I mean, it’s pretty close to my normal breakfast, but it’s also kinda a less healthy version of a breakfast that’s been pretty popular in Europe for over 100 years, so I’m at a loss how you’re defining ‘invented’
