Consolidate Student Loans ??

Hello! So i’m a first time college student. i recently got my associates and im trying to attend a university to get my bachelors degree. My student loans are in “ Default” therefore im not able to receive any financial aid benefits. i only owe a fee of 2.4k but because i am not working as of now ( in the new few weeks i will be ) i cant pay the loan in full.

I wanted to attend college this fall but i was told id have to make 6 consecutive payments before im not under default anymore. I was recommended to consolidate my student loans but i wanted other opinions on it ? is it worth it? keep in mind i do plan on paying monthly staring april i just don’t want to pay a high amount i want the default cleared hopefully before august and 6 months will be after the date i wanted to begin which is why i considered consolidation! opinion? no judgment just advice 😉
