I'm in SAVE forbearance and want to move to RAP in July to take advantage of the interest subsidy (assuming it will never come back with SAVE). How confident are we that we will actually be able to enter RAP right when it opens? Applications are so backed up for getting in other IDR plans that I'm worried I'll be stuck in SAVE forbearance for months after July 1 waiting for the RAP application to process. During that time my interest will keep accruing, right?
This whole shit show and lack of clarity is so frustrating…
Realistic Timeline for Entering RAP?

Hm, I left SAVE and went back to an IBR. I believe you can stay on IBR for something like 2 years before being forced on to RAP.
RAP is worse though; I was pretty sure it had higher payments than IBR. Are you really not able to get back on to IBR right now? I haven’t been keeping up since I made my switch.
The application speed seems to vary widely. I was hearing the same thing about it taking ages to get done, but mine went through to change to IBR in under 2 weeks with Mohela. 🤷♂️
Not at all confident. Although RAP is legally available 7/1, they have to implement the changes in the programming. The IBR hardship requirement was legally removed 7/1/25 but wasn’t active until 12/22/25
