CNN and a few other outlets are reporting that Iran may be laying sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz.

That’s a big deal because roughly 20% of the world’s oil supply moves through that route.

Trump reportedly demanded that Iran remove any mines immediately.

But the situation is still unclear there’s no full confirmation yet, just intelligence reports so far.

If the strait actually gets disrupted, it could have a big impact on oil prices and global markets.

Do you think this escalates or cools down from here?

I’d expect them to lay mines and take pot shots at any tanker they can reach. Seems obvious.

    2. I mean who knows? But.. if the president is telling them not to lay mines on twitter, then they are probably laying mines..

Trump’s demands all but confirms that mines are being laid and probably have been for a few days now.

He’s one of the dumbest people in America

Why would they mine it? Then their own ships and friends and neutrals can’t use it either.

How do mines discriminate between US flagged tanker or Chinese sounds unlikely it’s not uncommon for sea mines to come untethered.
This sounds like a ploy to scare insurers further.
Surely one drone flown or sailed into one tanker and it’s shut with out the need for mines

IF Iran mines the Straits, this would affect marine life, of course. Whales, etc. Can we also talk about this consequence as well? Heartbreaking. And it’s heartbreaking to ignore the war’s effect on animals and the environment. 🙁
