    1. Iran saying they will allow “neutral” ships is a bit like saying they will allow people to walk through a minefield as long as they aren’t their enemies.

Lol, all the ships they have attacked were neutral countries.

      Naval mines don’t discriminate

They just saying this shit to avoid an international coalition against them

They have been saying this long ago. Either just a diplomatic posture, or their leaderships are in disagreement. Anyway nthing changes.

    3. I think this is Iran trying to de-escalate. Hopefully our lord commander understands what the Iranians are trying to do and not bomb their kraug

Its not American or Israeli ships its countries that are attacking them. Which is pretty much all of the countries that already can’t get oil of the strait. So no its flat

“It is open” – in other words, try sailing and we’ll fire a missile or a drone and blame it on the operators!

Unless there are boots on the ground in Kharg and Iran loses 80% of its energy exports, there is no reason for them to change the status quo while they can continue to export to China while preventing others. Also, the property market in Dubai, Doha, London, Paris etc is about to heat up as billions of $$ in protection money flows to IRGC generals from gulf kingdoms and shipping companies.

    6. Honestly, if I were the enemy, I’d do the exact same thing. Why wouldn’t they do it that way?

What percentage of crude tankers there are American and Israeli? I assumed it wasn’t much but I really don’t know

    8. Lmao, no. You forgot the “and their allies” part. Everyone sailing in that area is in that category.

    9. This is strictly PR. Insurance companies still won’t insure $250 million oil tankers in an active war zone, especially with reports of naval mines.

It’s the insurance companies that will decide when Hormuz reopens.

China has an advantage here because their companies are state owned and can disregard risks to profits if there are larger geopolitical benefits to them.

What Iran is doing is shifting blame, and also undermining the petrodollar monopoly by requiring oil sales to occur in yuan.

I keep wondering if ships granted passage will suddenly “hit a mine” or “get hit with an Iranian drone by accident”. Basically false flag operations to stop this kind of shipping.

    11. Are there even “American” tankers? Every tanker I see on Marine Traffic is showing some other countries flag. I don’t think I’ve even seen an American tanker
