The time has come for me to shop for a vehicle. I hold on to my cars until they die, and unfortunately I have reached that time. It has been 15 years since my last purchase, so I’m asking the community for any tips they may have to ensure I maintain my frugality while at the same time obtaining a dependable and safe vehicle. Focusing on Honda or Toyota sedans.
Thank you for any and all feedback.

Get a Toyota Corolla then use it until it dies
Get a Camry or Accord and run it forever
You don’t have to get a brand new car you can get a car from police auctions. You don’t need a dealer license. They usually have lots of Impalas and expeditions and explorers. They may be older cars but they have low miles and get regular maintenance from the police.
Only buy what you can pay for in cash, the average American spends over a million dollars on interest from car loans.
