I canceled my Spotify premium subscription and am trying to find a good free replacement (I don’t love the free version of Spotify). I use the iHeartRadio app to listen to some local stations that I like, and have been testing out the free version of Amazon Music (I no longer have prime), which seems pretty good and feels like there are less ads than Spotify. Has anyone found a free music streaming service they love? I’m curious to try some new ones out!

What is the best free app for music streaming?

    1. Following this thread to find a replacement with a decent algo and similar UI.

My only contribution is to rec Tidal which is pretty decent. Still a lot of to be desired UI/algo wise, but good enough for a free thing.

    2. I’ve always preferred Pandora. They have a good algorithm to curate a playlist to your taste.

YT Music is my go to for free versions. Interface kinda sucks but best selection of music.

I use other apps occasionally if running free or heavily discounted specials for 1-3 months.

My wife enjoys Spotify so she keeps her subscription to it.

I recently did the same thing and went back to mp3s on my phone. I don’t miss streaming at all. Plus it’s nice being able to listen to music in areas with crappy cell service.

Foobar2000 has a internet radio section that’s seems to be pretty nice. I haven’t explored it too much but what I’ve experienced is pretty good.

    6. free tiers are always a trade off but some offer curated playlist ,offline downloads or better discovery features testing a couple is the best way to see what sticks
