BCH would scale much better for use as currency, but its ability to scale to truly become a major currency is dubious imo. Lightning and other layer 2’s are improving, and being integrated into apps that make them work better than before. This isn’t to say I don’t see the value of big blocks, but they also have faults both in supporting miners and hash rate, and scalability on the level of a major currency. Remaining small block is a bet than layer 2’s will advance and function better in the future, while keeping security as the primary focus. BCH and chains like LTC work better as currency in some ways at the moment, but tax code still prevents widespread adoption in most countries so the choice to favor security beyond what seems necessary at the time still feels like a better choice than improved currency functionality before it appears likely to be widely utilized that way.
