I currently only have a Chase freedom unlimited. I am pre approved for chase sapphire preferred, sapphire reserve, and amex gold. I’m considering getting either the preferred or amex. Not sure which would be the better option or if i shouldn’t do either lol. I saw that the hyatt points for sapphire preferred aren’t going to be as good anymore and that it will get a anual fee boost as well. Id appreciate any suggestions.

Which to choose for next card??

It really depends on what categories you want to target with your next card and what transfer partners are the most appealing to you if you intend to get into points for travel with your next card (vs a strictly cash back route).

The CSP is decent and pairs perfect with your CFU. If you go that route, you can now convert your cash back from the CFU into Ultimate Rewards points at 1 cpp which is nice. If the groceries category matter to you it’s not the best option (unless you predominantly shop at Whole Foods or another chain that has a mobile app so that you can hack the online shopping multiplier)

The Amex BCP is great as a cashback option. If you’re thinking about the charge cards like gold I’d read through some related posts on this sub reddit to see if it makes sense with your level of spend and how naturally you’d be able to use the credits.

As someone that currently holds both the CFU and CSP, I’d recommend looking into Citi for your next move ha. The double cash card is a better earner at 2% than the CFU and the Citi Strata Premiere is a stronger contender to the Sapphire Preferred. In fact I’ll probably be downgrading my Sapphire at renewal and making the switch to Citi.
