I got offered a 4yr/50k mile warranty for $3300 on a used 2018 rav4 hybrid that has about 100k miles on it. The car will be paid off in those 4 years.
Is it worth it?
It covers a lot of details for transmission, engine, suspension, and steering wheel.
Warranty for a used 2018 Rav4 hybrid that has 100k miles – worth it?

Absolutely waste of money.
Assuming basic oil changes and maintenance were done, that car should easily go 150-200k without major issues.
Besides, the issues you are going to run into before the “warranty” expires will be basic maintenance anyways (spark plugs and coolant around 120k, brakes every 30-50k, tires every 50-70k, suspension might start to go but could last till 200k or more) and will not be covered by any warranty.
That is from the dealership and is usually a WASTE OF MONEY.
That is a very profitable offering from the dealership.
If you believe they actually did a 4,000,000 point inspection, they did not. They just stick the sticker on the door panel.
RAV 4s are pretty reliable. Hondas and Toyotas have the highest marks just about every year.
I follow the scheduled maintenance record of the cars. Ask to see the maintenance records.
Has the timing belt been replaced? Has the Fuel pump been replaced? Has the water pump been replaced? has the starter been replaced?
Once a car hits 100,000 things do go wonky, that is why most cars have a 100,000 mile warranty.
here is my bill for a 2007 Honda Accord in 2022 that had 122,000 miles on it, done at our only honda dealership, this is one bill, this was the 120,000 do it all maintenance. Timing Belts are important and inside the engine. It is always expensive, while in there you might as well replace the Head Gasket
transmission flush – 225
alignment – 150
brake fluid exchange – $190
Valve Cover gasket – $515
Timing Belt – $1025
Power Steering Fluid – $189
One Engine Mount – $229
I let them replace the battery which I could do, but oh what the hell – $203
I put walmart tires on the car once it is over 100,000 miles, usually, I buy michelins.
