The consensus on the Citi Strata Elite seems to be that it’s a pretty mid card, maybe even “not great” for a premium travel card. However, as someone whose main airport is DFW but isn’t currently in the Citi TYP ecosystem, does it make sense? Maybe even as a Venture X replacement?

I already have a Sapphire Reserve, Amex Gold, and the Venture X, so i’m thinking I already have the “better” earning categories on the Strata Elite covered. I travel internationally twice per year and domestically about 1-3x per quarter.

Mainly just trying to see if there’s a better “catch all” card for me. I know I could get both the Strata Elite and Double Cash and the annual fee would still be lower, but I would genuinely get value from the CSE credit (and my wife values simplicity lol).

Citi Strata Elite if Near a DFW Hub?

Strata Elite is an amazing card for 1 year. Both of the credits are easy to use and since they are calendar year credits instead of membership year credits, you can double dip and get 1k in credits but only pay 1 annual fee. Then, downgrade the card to a Strata Premier. The premier costs way less and still allows you to transfer to AA.
