You know a war is going really well when all of your decisions devolve into damage control within the first month.
At this rate, we’ll be lucky to get out of there with a shameful defeat in 5 years.
Yeah, no shit.
He’s been manipulating the market since Day 1. Almost on cue, good news on Monday with bad news coming Friday. I can only imagine what him and his cronies have made on option plays.
Step 1) Deploy thousands of troops to the region
Step 2) Implore NATO allies to assist in reopening Hormuz while calling them cowards
Step 3) Say that the special military operation is “winding down”
Step 4) Issue a 48 hour ultimatum before war crimes are committed
Step 5) Climb down on the ultimatum and say that you’re negotiating, and the Iranians deny that any negotiations are happening
The art of the deal, folks.
The more pathetic thing at this point is how the markets continue to fall for it. He clearly has no plan, no credible objectives, and no good off-ramps.
Further, it only takes one party to start a war, but in this case it will take three to end it. The Iranians have seen that they have massive leverage, as confirmed by today’s repeated cycle of damage control by Trump, and have no incentive to end this until they feel they are in better strategic position to extract concessions. Meanwhile, the Israelis will very much not be satisfied with an end that sees such concessions made to a now emboldened Iranian state and may seek to escalate before any real deal can be reached.
But sure, the idiot in chief does his same little dance on a Monday and we go around and around again.
Fucking duh.
Nothing but blatant self-interest here. Markets don’t reflect consumer confidence or reality…much thanks to his tax cuts that allowed for companies to do billions in stock buy backs. It’s all a bunch of blah blah blah bullshit.
And, nothing he says holds any fucking value. It’s one thing to do something because Daddy Bibi told you to do it because he’s got Kompromat on you. It’s another altogether to lift sanctions on Iranian and Russian oil, providing them monies for their campaigns against you and an ally.
