My insurer is Geico, I was hit by someone who was deemed 100% at fault who uses progressive.

I got several quotes for repairs from different shops. I decided to use the other person's insurance as they would cover a rental and my deductible.

The day before I'm scheduled to drop my vehicle off at the repair shop I chose and actually scheduled with, the progressive agent (other party) calls me and tells me (abridged) that I can't drop my vehicle off at shop "C" because shop "A" cashed a check from GEICO for the repairs and that progressive has already paid GEICO what they owed them.

My GEICO agent is saying it may take several months to get the money back from the shop and sort everything out on the back end so that I can use Progressive.

My vehicle has not been touched and I only scheduled with the 1 place (shop C)

    What are my options?

Vehicle is "drive able" but it's completely trashed. Is my only option really to use the shop that cashed the GEICO check and pay for my own rental? I was tboned by a drunk driver who ran a red light…

Got an estimate from an auto body shop, and they cashed the check without doing any work or me even scheduling an appointment with them. Wtf?

Go through Geico if you want your car fixed sooner. Progressive isn’t going to pay a cent to another shop.

Did you ask Geico WHY they did this? They aren’t great, but that’s pretty bad.
