While not a credit card, relevant here because of MR points.
The American Express checking account earns 1 MR point for every $2 spent on the debit card. Do you think this would be a good way to pay taxes?
A $2.15 fee to get thousands of MR points seems like a good deal to me. Has anyone paid their taxes with a debit card before? I'm trying to not get scammed. I'm skeptical of third-party payment processors.

the irs is gonna charge you that $2.15 fee anyway so you’re not actually getting free points, you’re just paying to convert dollars into slightly less valuable dollars
Until you find out they actually charge it like a commercial credit card.
I paid my taxes this year to hit a SUB. Totally worth the added fee. But outside of that direct ACH pay is typically a better option.
I would only do it if the fee math still works in your favor, because tax payment processors always find a way to eat the upside. Double-check coding before sending anything big.
