I was rear-ended last week in a multi-car accident. I was in the middle and the car behind me was totaled, and I bumped into the car in front of me. There are some minor scratches and dents on my car, but they’re not very noticeable unless you’re specifically looking for them.

However, my main concern is hidden damages I’m a part time uber driver I drive about 30-36 hours a week 3 hours very early in the morning and 3 hours after work before the gym. So I have to make sure my car is safe for that. I have a 2015 Mazda 3 that was assembled in Japan it’s cheap to maintain and to fix and is very reliable so I’m very determined to keep my paid off car for another 100-200k miles currently have 179k on it.

I immediately filed a claim with the at-fault driver’s insurance. That same day, an insurance appraiser came to look at my car, took pictures for about 10 minutes, and determined that it was safe to drive. He then issued me a check for the visible damages. When I asked what the payment was for, he said it was an initial payment based on what he inspected. I was hesitant to accept because I didn’t want to accept payment before a proper shop inspection and I definitely didn’t want to be low balled.

I accepted the payment, but I told him I still wanted to have the car checked for hidden damages by a shop. He later sent me an email saying I should go ahead and do that, and if the shop finds additional damage, they should contact my claims adjuster.

Now my question is Will the insurance cover the cost of having my car inspected by a shop, even if no additional damage is found? Cause the shop I went to recommended by my dad is taking their sweet time and I hope to god they’re not just trying to rack up my bill. So just in case they are will the insurance will pay for it or reimburse me for it?

Took my car to a shop after an appraiser looked at my car and gave me a check.
