Weird experience with Barclaycard – renewal drama

Hey all – another weird experience to share. So, I have had a Barclays MC forever and use it for all sorts of purchases (travel, gas, clothes, gifts, etc). My card is set to expire April 2026. In late Feb, they "upgraded" me to the World Elite MC but gave me my exact same card number and April expiry. So, I am thinking that they are NORMAL and will send me a replacement card since mine is about to expire in April. It's now late March and they are telling me they will not have a decision on whether or not I will get renewed until after April 15.

Meanwhile, multiple vendors will not take the card since it is so close to expiry (even though it means it is good until end of April).

I carry very little debt on the card and tend to pay off the low balance at least once a month. I assume they are going to cancel me because I am not generating enough interest.

So what gives? Anyone else find themselves in this situation with Barclaycard? This is very odd behavior IMO. I have had Discover, Amex, Visa, MC, etc and never had such weird service and odd decisions and such.
