Been lurking here for a while and finally have something worth sharing. Started a small side business doing financial planning consultations specifically for military folks transitioning out – there’s such a gap in understanding how to handle TSP rollovers, VA disability planning, and all that stuff that civilian advisors just don’t get

Not looking for clients here obviously but would love feedback from anyone who’s been through the transition. The biggest thing I see is people not realizing how much their military benefits are actually worth when calculating their FI number. Like seriously, tricare and VA disability can be huge factors that get completley overlooked

Happy to answer questions about the business side too – took me about 6 months to get properly licensed and another 3 to feel confident enough to actually help people
