Curious about student loan deferment

Hi everyone! I'm currently a senior in undergrad and I've recently been accepted to a 5 year Ph.D program in the U.S. I have only direct subsidized and unsubsidized loans through Nelnet, I was wondering what the course of action would be to defer my loans, and any information about how that would work?
