So I was in an accident and my injury lawyers referred me to this body shop who kept my car for three weeks and didn’t work on it until the last four days my estimate went from $1200-$4500 when my car was dropped off It wasn’t 100% I called and explained to him what was still wrong with the car and even though he said he would fix my car. It’s now an inconvenience for me especially since they had my car for so long and I was paying my rental out of pocket. I called my lawyer to ask if they had been paid and they said all three checks have been cashed and when I requested the front and back of the checks and looked at them, I noticed that my signature was forged on all three checks after I talked to a different lawyer about this he said the only thing I could do that would be worth my time is trying to get some money out of him to repair it on my own because everything else would be a hassle. Does this sound about right? I just don’t know what to do I don’t even trust my lawyer anymore.

    1. Weird story. How is an injury lawyer related to a body shop? Who wrote the checks? You? Why then you are asking a lawyer if they are cashed?

      First of all. Use paragraphs.

The initial estimate is call “initial” for a reason. 1200 is probably what the adjuster and bodyshop could visually see at first, but after a tear down, there were more damages that require supplemental requests to repair the car, that is why your estimate go up to 4500.

Second, how do you know that the shop didn’t work on it until the last 4 days? It is not like the shop only have your car to work

Didn’t use an allstate approved shop
Allstate probably won’t be of too much help.

You sure you didn’t sign over poa to them for this?

There are steps the check could have been a two party check?
