My rear right car door was hit by a driver when I was leaning into the car to get my child out of their car seat. I did not open the door suddenly or without looking.
The street is a one way and I was parked on the left well within the parking line.
The other party contacted their insurance and opened a claim. I spoke to them and explained the damages and sent pictures. I also filed a police report because I believe the driver was distracted.
I also spoke to my provider and they encouraged me to follow up with the other parties insurance because a claim was already filed.
Here’s the problem. I think I’m being ghosted by the adjuster on the claim. I’ve sent multiple emails and called several times with no response.
Question for the community – what is the reasonable and prudent thing to do here? I’m trying to avoid filing a claim against my insurance because I have a spotless record and don’t want to file a claim for something that I don’t believe is my fault.
And advice is appreciated. Thanks.

A vehicle was damaged in this incident. Let their or your insurance work it out. Filing or not filing doesn’t really matter now that someone already filed.
Your record is not spotless any more as your vehicle was in a collision. At fault or not at fault it still happened.
Retired Adjuster State laws vary
File with your own insurance. They can subrogate against the at fault parties insurer for money they pay and to recover your deductible. The accident had already been reported to your insurer.
When I was hit and the other guy’s insurance ghosted me I submitted it to my insurance and let them deal with it.
