I need perspective on recent accident involving two cars. The weather was so bad that schools and businesses were closed in 20 counties. Because of pain, I went to medical appointment. I parked in a lot with one lane between parking lots. Cars were using it to drop off and turn around.
I sat for quite a while until there appeared to be no cars. I slowly eased out until there was a bump. I got out in the pouring rain and saw no damage, no dents on either car. Mine is a 2012 Camry, and hers was 2019. therefore, I provided my info to the driver, who was the mother of the owner. I thought that was the end of it.
When owner called and said there was a paint transfer, I asked that we meet at a collision place I knew of. The estimator used a compounding ingredient and cleaned the spot. He asked about an estimate, and we said sure. I thought I would get a bill for what he has done.
The estimate was more than $1,000 and involved a lot of work that has nothing to do with paint transfer, which was about 3 inches.
Now I wish I had called the police. I am not even sure the scratch area on the back of the car is from this. I was parked backing, and she was perpendicular.
Opinions, please.
