I had to cancel my only credit card that i just got a month ago i’m so frustrated and upset.
No one mentioned when you buy a home you are bombarded with home warranty scams, which is what the charge was for, entered manually.
I had previously dealt with a home warranty scammer which is what lead me to getting this card in the first place. I have not done anything similar now that I’m aware of these scams. Both charges were from different sources if it’s worth mentioning.
I’m so careful about where I use my card, usually just shoprite and other reliable places. I even have an RFID card in my wallet. I never gave this card info out over the phone or anything.
How do I protect my info in the future? I’m so tried.
my card info got stolen, what can i do to protect myself?

those home warranty scammers are the absolute worst, they somehow get your info from public records when you close on a house and just start hammering you with calls and fake charges
for protection going forward – freeze your credit reports with all three bureaus if you haven’t already, set up fraud alerts on everything, and maybe consider getting a card with better fraud monitoring since some banks are way more on top of catching weird charges than others. your being careful with where you use it but sometimes these data breaches happen at the store level and there’s not much you can do about that part
There isn’t much you can do other than cancel the card number and get a new one. Ive done this probably in the double digits now with my cards. All you can do is monitor your charges, dispute, and live your life. This is why I switched to Proton as well for email. I have a primary email I never share which is my proton account, then I have emails I do share and if any of them get stolen, I shut them down now. To me, stolen emails and phone numbers are worse.
