Renewables can’t manufacture, anything. They can turn a light on in your house or run your refrigerator but they can’t make steel, car parts, even new solar panels. If you live somewhere where it’s sunny 300 days/yr they are a decent solution, at the residential level. If you live in upstate New York, they will be covered by snow for 3 months a year and generate zero power, zero. This in turn requires utilities to turn around and buy power on the exchange market at 3-5x normal rates. Guess who pays for that….
