Not being adopted fast enough.
Mostly political ones. Solar + battery is sufficiently mature.
Same challenges as now?
Power grid
A copper scarcity for the power grid.
A scarcity of large power transformers.
“what challenges”
Storage and grid interconnects.
Challenge with renewables is reliability and resilience. Short term Intermittency is almost solved using storage.. long term Intermittency is a different ball game.
Same as it faces today. Lack of infrastructure since biggest demand is fuel and just reducing that oil footprint would go a long way. Why I refuse to buy an EV. Range anxiety since I love taking long trips and often.
Until sentiment sways away from saving oil and coal there likely won’t be enough improvement regardless how expensive energy gets. This isn’t our first energy crisis and likely not our last.
Grids’ stability at high renewables penetration and general grids’ expansion.
By the way I think energy consumption could also increase a lot because of thr need to actively carbon capture, reducing emissions is only half of the solution to climate change.
EVs are easy because you can shape the demand.
