Has Ethereum ever been successfully hacked at the protocol level, or have there been serious attempts or controlled tests to break it? Are there any publicly available proofs, videos, audit reports, or penetration testing details that demonstrate its resilience or expose vulnerabilities?
In traditional systems, proving security requires extensive testing across multiple layers—network, application, infrastructure, and data. Given the decentralized nature of Ethereum, how can we gain similar confidence in its security?
Specifically, how can one systematically and surgically assess each infrastructure component that the Ethereum network depends on, including node software, consensus mechanisms, and data structures, as well as encryption and transaction integrity?
