The Houthis are Yemeni citizens, not foreigners, who are opposed to US and Saoudi Arabia imposing their subservient regime on Yemen so they can steal its resources and use its people as a proxy against others, including Iran. The Houthis want an indepent Yemen. Since the GCC, the US, UK, France and their mercenaries waged war on the Houthis for years, the movement sought help from Iran. They are not proxy, they are allies. The Houthis are ideologically aligned with Iran, anti-colomial and anti-imperialist. They defeated the GCC which was backed by the West. Like the Houthis, Hezbollah is made up of Lebanese citizens marginalized by the West-backed government and reside in South Lebanon. It was born under Israeli occupation of their land by Israel that invaded them. Hezbollah defends Lebanon sovereignty and territorial integrity and allied itself with Iran for strategic and military assistance to help fight off Israel. They are not proxy of Iran. They are allies.
Follow the money – the Houthi terrorists launching the attacks aren't doing it for sport. They're being paid to do it. Find out who is paying them and there you go.
All this is exciting. David may yet defeat Goliath. Asymmetric war gives ordinary folk a chance against rich powerful bullies. All the regimes in the Middle East are corrupt, and inhumane, and so are their powerful allies on both sides. A plague on all the players. I'm fascinated to watch the chaotic destruction of all current players and hopefully the emergence of a new generation of better leaders.
