I currently have the IHG Premier card, which I opened on March 31, 2023. I used my Free Night Certificate (FNC) two weeks ago, and this past weekend I used my remaining 22,000 points to book another one-night stay.
Because of this, I feel like now is a good time to cancel the card and apply for a new one. I believe my annual fee will be charged tomorrow. My plan is to use or book the upcoming Free Night Certificate for a stay in April or May, then cancel the card by the end of this week. After waiting at least 30 days, I’d apply for the card again.
I know there was an elevated 175K points sign-up bonus that ended on March 18, which I unfortunately missed. Does anyone know how often IHG offers elevated sign-up bonuses? I’m also aware of the 5 FNC bonus offer, but I’m less interested in that since the certificates are more restrictive and expire.
My car insurance is due in June, so ideally I’d like to have the card again by then. With that expense and my regular spending, I should be able to meet the sign-up bonus within a month. Either way I would have no problem with the spending of $3k or $5k in 3 months.
IHG Premier elevated Point SUBS? How often per year?

The elevated bonuses seem to pop up every 6-8 months or so, but timing it perfectly with your car insurance in June might be cutting it close if you’re waiting 30+ days after canceling
I got an elevated bonus point offer something like last November.
