I expect to have ~$2,500 in medical bills to pay in the next two months. This is not my insurance premium, but payments I have to make to doctors/health clinics/hospitals. What credit card would give me the best reward for this? I am disabled so I do have recurring medical expenses like this. Currently, I use a credit card that gives 2% cash back in all purchases.

    Thanks!

I don’t think there’s a special card that’s great for medical/clinic/hospitals. The choices tend to be a good catch-all for flat cash back, or a SUB for a high$ card.

Usually you would want to put large expenses like this towards the spending requirement for a sign-up bonus on a newly opened credit card. But if you’re saying large medical expenses are a regular part of your life, then:

      • If they take PayPal, the PayPal Cashback Mastercard for unlimited 3% cash back.

      • If they take Apple Pay/Google Pay/mobile wallet, then the US Bank Kroger Mastercard for 5% on up to $3,000 spend per year (two of these should capture most out of pocket maximums).

      • If you can get off of Robinhood’s waitlist, then the Robinhood Gold for unlimited 3% cash back.

      • If you’re feeling adventurous with fintechs, then the Aven Rewards for 3% cash back on up to $10,000 spend per year.

      • If they charge credit card fees, then the Primis debit card for unlimited 1% cash back.

      • Otherwise, any unlimited 2% cash back credit card.
