after almost 6 years of dealing with Sallie Mae. (just like everyone else I stupidly worked with them as a first gen college kid to go to a 4 year degree, then accelerated nursing program) out of school monthly payments of over $3k and any hopes of refinancing out the window. two pay reduction programs and almost 6 years later I FINALLY REFINANCED. SCREW YOU SALLIE MAE. My interest for one loan with Sallie Mae was almost 12% now I finally have all my loans under one account with a fixed interest of 8% (I know not great but we gotta start somewhere) and BOTH my cosigners off the accounts which is the biggest relief. if you're in the thick of it DONT GIVE UP.

I’m so unbelievably frustrated these loan programs exist at all, not least with these rates. In AU the rates are 0% because the government should treat people as an investment they benefit from on the way out, not also on the way in.
i just was able to refinance my private student loans too !! a win is a win!!
