Free shipping minimums are kinda making me spend more, not less

I’m based in Germany and I’ve been noticing this more with Amazon lately (no Prime, €49 for free shipping).

Most of the time I’m not even close to that, so I end up doing the same thing every time adding random stuff just so I don’t have to pay €3–5 for delivery.

But when I actually think about it, I’m spending like €15–20 extra just to avoid a small shipping fee… which makes zero sense.

Trying to be more aware of it now because it’s such an easy habit to fall into.

I did try Joybuy a couple times after seeing it mentioned somewhere (they seem active here and ship from NL/DE). Their free shipping starts at €29, so I didn’t feel that same pressure to add extra things. Not saying it’s better or anything, just felt a bit easier for smaller orders.

Curious what others here do
do you just pay for shipping, or wait until you actually need more stuff?
