Just an FYI for those of us that still have the Redstone Visa Signature, it appears the card has rotating quarterly categories for the 5%, akin to the Chase Freedom Flex.

I noticed when I logged in to my account to see what next quarter's categories would look like and they're different from the options I saw before for the current quarter (April 1st – June 30th).

The previous category options for the current quarter were between (Travel/Transportation/Hotels) – (Amazon) – and (Home improvement stores).

For the upcoming quarter (July 1st – Sep 30th) the available options are (Restaurants & Fast food) – (Office gear & Electronics) – and (Sports & Outdoor stores).

The categories for next quarter are underwhelming IMO. It'd be nice if they throw in a wholesale club category in the mix for one of the upcoming quarters so time will tell what Redstone has in store.

Those categories actually look a lot better than the Freedom Flex’s lately. The Freedom Flex has turned into a rotating coupon card more than a rotating category card. This Redstone card has real categories, more like the Discover It card.

Disclaimer: you can only pick one category

CFF losing a second mainstream category is a shame, but obviously it gets a boost for redemptions

Redstone and Discover It are okay for what they are. Not top tier but better than most. Unfortunately it’s geofenced so there’s no point in recommending it to anyone

    3. Also, you must choose the category by the end of the month 5pm Pacific time. The category cannot be changed after 5pm. If you don’t choose a category, I believe it defaults to no extra cash back.

A true lion, reduced to a kitten. Ah well, 5% rotating categories isn’t the worst contribution to a setup, but it’s another thing to track and enroll…
