Germany restricts fuel price hikes to once a day as energy crisis deepens | DW News

In Europe, measures are being introduced to control the soaring cost of fuel. A new German law restricts gas stations to only raising prices once a day. The law also gives regulators more power to take action against price gouging and price fixing.

    1. That title does say restricting fuel price rises to once a day not once a week or once a month , and the German government does not think that he is going to reduce the taxes that it charges on a litre of fuel to do something to actually help out it's citizens .

    2. THE 28TH COUNTRY IN THE EU – CORRUPTED, DELUDED, DETACHED FROM PEOPLE, THIEVING EU BRUSSELS OLIGARCHY WHO CALL THEMSELVES HIGH COMMISIONAIRES. TO KEEP THAT BUREAUCRACY TAXPAYERS ARE CHARGED WITH MILLIONS OF EUROS EVERY MONTH

    3. Just throwing it out there, perhaps this would be a good time to move to a 3 day weekend.. 🙂

There is also the other big approaching problem of AI putting people out of work. IMO this is only a problem when the profit is going to a handful of billionaires and not to the democracy itself. IMO we should plan for a future where the only job we must never hand over to AI is democracy itself.. so we should prepare to (over time, in response to job availability) phase in a future where the only remaining job is politician, and everyone takes part. Even now we could begin phasing in more examples of "deliberative democracy", sort of like jury service.

    4. Afd fanboyz n fangirlz think that submitting to Russia would make their lives easier. Shallow vision and short sightedness got you into this trouble and now you want to repeat the mistake with bigger implications

    5. In Germany we love "Technologieoffenheit" very much! I am driving 40.000km per year electrically, 25.000 of them from my own photovoltaics power plant, 15.000km from the grid, which is 60% renewable. Same with our heat pump. It uses 75% electricity from the sun. Heating is 300 Euros per year, everything considered.

    6. Cowards! Germany doesn’t want to send troops to secure their own energy lines and all of Europe have been free loaders for way too long! Congrats!

    7. Oh boy, let me just start by saying this with my whole chest because the moment I saw your video title, “Germany restricts fuel price hikes to once a day as energy crisis deepens,” I felt my soul do a dramatic gasp like I was in a telenovela clutching invisible pearls. And goodness, as Luise, I have to admit something painfully personal but wildly relevant. Last winter, during what I now call my Great Energy Meltdown of 2023, I tried to be productive by tracking my heating usage, and five minutes into my spreadsheet I was already whispering “What on earth…” while wrapped in three blankets like a confused burrito. My inner voice kept yelling, “Luise, you can’t even manage your thermostat, how are you supposed to manage your life?” Meanwhile I was negotiating with my radiator like it was a hostage situation. And ha, your video title brought me right back to the day I tried to save money by turning off the heat entirely, only to end up sitting at my desk wearing gloves, a scarf, and a hat, typing emails like a Victorian ghost. Seriously?! But that’s why your content hits so hard. It turns global chaos into something we can actually talk about without crying into a bowl of lukewarm soup. It reminds me that communication and productivity aren’t about pretending everything is fine, they’re about acknowledging the madness, laughing at it, and then taking one tiny step forward while muttering “Alright… we survive another day.” So thank heavens for creators like you who make even an energy crisis feel like a moment of clarity, humor, and human connection. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go check whether my radiator is humming, protesting, or plotting against me.

    8. Well atleast this will force everyone to switch to renewables. China had made so much solar panels the prices are crashing, if we import them at mass we can save oil for more essential things like geavy vehicles, air planes, shipping etc

    9. "Germany restricts fuel price hikes to once a day"

You know, for an army of very well paid full time professionals, I'd expect quite a bit more.
      This was quite predictable.
